Benefits of Nitrous Oxide

We use nitrous oxide to quickly, safely sedate patients who are anxious. Commonly known as laughing gas, this type of sedation dentistry has been used for years. It remains one of the best options for nervous patients because:

  • The patient remains conscious for the entire procedure, meaning no groggy effects afterward
  • Although the patient is conscious, he or she will have little to no memory of the procedure
  • It quickly makes the patient comfortable
  • Sedation levels can be adjusted as needed
  • It’s safe for patients of all ages
  • Recovery time is minimal

Our patients that are afraid of the dentist value this service. It allows anxious patients to receive high-quality dental care including cleanings, cavity fillings, and other treatments. One of our experienced dentists will administer nitrous gas and oxygen to the patient through a mask that goes in the patient’s nose. The calming effect is felt within just a few minutes. The sedation dentist monitors the patient throughout the procedure in our Crystal Falls, TX office and can adjust the sedation levels as needed.

Once the procedure is completed and the nitrous oxide mask is removed, the effects wear off quickly. Patients can usually drive themselves home after treatment. Patients typically recall very little, if anything, of the treatment. Since nitrous oxide can be used on adults and children, it is a safe option for all ages. If you or your child needs a sedation dentist, please contact Renken Dentistry today to discuss your next appointment with our staff. We will do everything we can to ensure you are comfortable throughout your visit.
